Biography Carmen Nuñez-Lagos

Carmen is an independent arbitrator and the Spanish appointee to the ICSID arbitrators’ panel. She has over 34 years’ experience in international business disputes, acting both as arbitrator and counsel.

She started her career in 1990 and was a partner at Hogan Lovells LLP in Paris until June 2019, when she decided to serve full-time as an independent and professional arbitrator. She has acted in more than 200 international arbitration proceedings on behalf of industrial groups and States.

Carmen is a renowned international arbitrator. She is appointed as arbitrator in multiple occasions as president, co-arbitrator and sole arbitrator. In addition to the ICSID’ panel of arbitrators, she is listed on the rosters of arbitrators of the most relevant arbitral institutions including the ICDR, ICC, LCIA, CAS, the Milan Chamber of Commerce or the Madrid Arbitration Court.

She is a Court member of the Swiss Arbitration Center and of the Milan Arbitration Center and of the Madrid Arbitration Court arbitrator’s appointing committee. She is a member of the Council of the ICC World Business Institute and the Vice-president of the Spanish Arbitration Club’s Board of Directors worldwide. She is also a member of the Appointing Committee of arbitrators of the Madrid Court of Arbitration

Her expertise has been widely recognized.
